What is WPP? The Western Plastics Processors Trade Fair is designed as a more personal approach to an industry event. In manufacturing there is a tremendous need for consolidation, networking and a well trained work force. Accessing these needs and opportunities nationally is no longer cost effective. Realizing this the Southern California Society of Plastics Engineers began to design an event that would be catered to local manufacturer. The event was designed with three goals; bring our local plastics manufacturing community together, effectively introduce new products and services to molders and enhance awareness of local plastics profession educational programs.
2008 marked the first year for the trade fair which resulted in participation from almost fifty exhibitors and two hundred plastics professionals. Three training seminars were held of which over ninety people attended each individual class. The response from plastics professionals as to the seminars is that they were very informative and they would attend again. As to the exhibits, attendees enjoyed the face to face contact and social aspect of dinner with the contact they had made. The response from exhibitors was that the event was much more personal allowing them to communicate more effectively with professionals attending the event.
The SoCal SPE section would like to thank the exhibitors for trusting in us and participating in this first annual event. We are looking forward to an even more successful 2009 Western Plastics Processors Trade Fair.
